Overview
Dubai
is the Middle East 's most dynamic destination, with some
of the world's most luxurious and stunning hotels, high profile
shopping and sports, spectacular landscapes and fine beaches.
Dubai
has evolved as one of the world's top holiday destinations
and nowhere can match the speed with which it has eased up
the list of desirable holiday destinations. Whether it's for
a luxurious beach holiday, short break or stopover en route
to the Far East or Australasia .
Dubai
offers that most essential requirement for British holidaymakers,
guaranteed year round sunshine. Alongside soaring skyscraper
hotels and shopping malls there is still a unique living culture,
with glittering gold souqs, old fashioned dhow harbours, camel
racing and desert safaris to name but a few.
The
Dubai X – FACTOR
Dubai
has it! Where else can you experience beach, mountains, golf,
falconry displays, desert dinners, camel rides, souqs and
international jazz amongst others?
Getting
There
Flights
from the UK are predominantly provided by Dubai 's own carrier,
Emirates.
The
airline's mix of Airbus A330's and Boeing 777's operate from
London Heathrow, London Gatwick, Birmingham , Manchester and
Glasgow .
Newcomer
Ethiad flies eight times a week from Heathrow to Dubai 's
neighbour Abu Dhabi and daily from Gatwick (North Terminal)
to the same destination. The airline provides a complimentary
60-minute coach transfer to Dubai 's beach hotels. Passengers
can book transfers when purchasing their flights.
The
launch of a Dubai service by Virgin Atlantic in March 2006,
with four flights a week increasing to five in May and daily
from June, will make Dubai even more accessible and attractive.
Other
carriers to fly include KLM and Air France offering passengers
local departures via Amsterdam and Paris Charles De Gaulle
respectively.
Dubai
's success as a tourist destination has brought forward plans
to open a brand new airport located in Jebel Ali, located
40 kilometres from the existing Dubai International Airport
. When completed it will have a handling capacity of about
120 million passengers and will cover 140 square kilometres.

Accommodation
Dubai
's hotels have quickly won worldwide reputation for offering
the very best in leisure and business facilities. The best
know example of this, and now Dubai 's most recognisable icon
is the Burj Al Arab, at 1,000 ft the world's tallest hotel
building.
Meaning
The Arabian Tower, and housed within a magnificent sail shaped
building approx. 280 metres offshore from Jumeirah Beach,
the Burj has quickly established itself as a Dubai landmark.
The hotel has 202 suites and believe it or not an underwater
restaurant, truly an experience not to be missed!

Dubai
's first hotel to embrace futuristic design was the Jumeirah
Beach Hotel. Set on the shores of the Arabian Gulf, looking
out towards The Burj Al Arab and built in an amazing shape
that mirrors a breaking wave, this hotel has its own private
beach and for those seeking a little more exhilaration, the
Wild Wadi Water Park, a delightful break for both young and
young at heart.
Latest
additions include the Madinat Jumeirah Resort with the opening
of the 292 room Al Qasr and 20 Arabian villas – Dar Al Masyaf.
Al Qasr is a boutique style hotel featuring Arabic patterns
and traditional natural materials.
Bab
Al Shams Desert Resort and Spa is located in the desert. Styled
as a Bedouin fortress, this luxury family geared resort offers
115 deluxe rooms and suites, spa ans an Arabic open-air restaurant.
Guests staying here can enjoy camel rides, dune bashing and
for the younger holidaymaker, Sinbad's kids club.
Just
a short ride from Dubai 's centre is The Emirates Group's
Al Maha Desert Resort and Spa, a member of the leading small
hotels of the world. Each Bedouin style suite has its own
private swimming pool.
If
you prefer the hustle and bustle of city life, downtown Dubai
has plenty of hotels on offer. An Ibis and Novotel represent
the mid-range sector up to The Fairmont Dubai, Renaissance
Dubai and Taj Palace, to name but a few. Whatever your taste
and budget, Dubai has something for everyone.
As
an ever changing destination, Dubai has many exciting hotel
and leisure developments underway. Some hotels are affected,
however the developments are changing on a daily basis so
